Terms of Service

Welcome to Roast (“Roast,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Samuel Omorayewa, operating as an individual. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Roast website, application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Description of the Service

Roast lets users upload screenshots of user interface designs and receive an AI-generated critique, including a score breakdown, written feedback, and an assessment of whether the design appears generic or AI-templated. Roast is provided on a freemium basis: a free tier with a limited number of critiques per month (the current limit is shown in the app) and a paid “Pro” subscription tier with unlimited critiques, as described on our pricing page.

3. Accounts

• You may create an account using Google or Figma sign-in (“social login”). We do not offer email/password accounts.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of the account you sign in with, and for all activity under your Roast account.
• You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You can review and update your name, username, and profile picture, and delete your account, from Settings within the app.

4. Subscriptions and Payment

• The Pro subscription is billed monthly at the price shown at checkout, processed by Polar, our payment processor and merchant of record.
• Polar handles billing, invoicing, tax/VAT calculation and collection, and sends you a receipt for each payment. We do not store your payment card details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the subscription management page linked in the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you’ll retain Pro access until then.
• Payments are non-refundable except where required by law. If you cancel, you keep Pro access until the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for.

5. Your Content

• “User Content” means the design screenshots and any related information you upload to the Service.
• You retain ownership of your User Content. By uploading it, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit it (including to our AI and infrastructure providers, listed in our Privacy Policy) solely to provide the Service to you.
• You are responsible for having the right to upload the content you submit. Don’t upload screenshots containing content you don’t have rights to, or that violate someone else’s intellectual property or privacy.

6. AI-Generated Content

Critique reports, scores, and recommendations are generated by an AI model and are provided for informational and educational purposes only. AI-generated feedback may be inaccurate or incomplete. It does not constitute professional design, legal, or accessibility-compliance advice, and should not be relied on as a substitute for professional review.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to upload unlawful, infringing, abusive, or malicious content.
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits, reverse-engineer the Service, or abuse the AI critique engine (e.g. automated bulk submissions).
• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers to operate, including hosting (Cloudflare), authentication (Google, Figma), database and storage (Supabase, Tigris), AI processing (Anthropic), payments (Polar), email (SendByte), and error/performance logging (Better Stack). Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers’ own terms where applicable.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service itself — its design, branding, and underlying software — is owned by us. These Terms don’t grant you rights to our intellectual property beyond what’s needed to use the Service as intended.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time via Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon account deletion, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll post the updated version here with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
